The study – Family-School Relationship: Network Case Studies

The research “Family-School Relationship: Case Studies of Networks” sought to know, systematize and disseminate good practices of approximation between families and schools in units of the public network, with a focus on Elementary Education in public schools in Brazil.

The study was carried out in two stages: in the first, a selection of teaching networks that represent successful experiences in family-school approximation actions was carried out; in the second, a field research was carried out to get to know the six selected networks in depth.

The visits involved in-depth interviews with managers of the Secretariat and schools, conversation circles with students and students’ parents, triads with teachers and an ethnography of the school’s dynamics.

Results

The study generated knowledge of best practices in projects to bring families and schools closer together, especially in more vulnerable regions. With the research, the third sector gained subsidies to improve its performance and the form of support to education departments, considering different social contexts.
